A BBC World Music Award winner in 2007, Lebanese singer Ghada Shbeir studied the origins of Arabic music before obtaining a diploma in oriental singing. She now teaches oriental chanting, continues her research on Syrian music at the Holy Spirit University in Lebanon.

Israeli singer, Mor Karbasi, is described as a purveyor of 'spine-tingling Gypsy music'. She sings in Ladino, Spanish, Hebrew and English. Performing traditional Ladino songs and her own compositions her wonderful voice is complemented by the musicianship of Joe Taylor and the innovative arrangements featuring the oud, recorders, harmonium, Arabic violin.
