This is the second album from the American-born saxophonist Allison Neale, who is based in the UK. An altoist from the school of Paul Desmond and Art Pepper, Neale is joined Gary Kavanagh, a fine bebop trumpeter.

This CD on the Octav label documents two alto sax geniuses, captured live in Sweden in 1950. Charlie Parker is considered to be the greatest saxophonist of all time. He is joined by Arne Domnerus, renowned in his home country as one of Sweden’s top jazz musicians. Both artists were in top form in this concert.

Cultural Survival from critically-acclaimed and Grammy award winning saxophonist David Sánchez continues to fuse his fierce, straight ahead jazz sound with African, Afro-Cuban and Caribbean influences. The album also features a new direction for Sánchez as he debuts a piano-less quartet on all but three of the eight songs and the inclusion of guitar.

This session, which had lain hidden for over 40 years, features multi-instrumentalist Tubby Hayes, one of Britain’s greatest jazz musicians. Recorded at Ronnie Scott’s club in 1965, the three lengthy performances represent a typical mid-Sixties Hayes set, featuring Hayes’s typical extended soloing on tenor saxophone and flute.
