His first symphonies known as 'Milanesi' were composed and performed in Milan and are in three movements with traditional instrumentation (strings 2 oboes 2 horns). During the years he spent in Naples until his death he composed no less than 57 single movement symphonies according to the fashion of the time. These have a more varied instrumentation.
