About the artist Doulce Memoire Ensemble

Founded in 1990 by the flautist Denis Raisin-Dadre, the Doulce Mémoire ensemble is what in the 16th century would have been called a consort of voices and instruments', and it has a repertoire exclusively or Renaissance music. Denis Raisin-Dadre is a flautist specialising in the recorder and other ancient members of the flute family. He studied in Lyon, Geneva, and Paris, earning a bachelor's degree in musicology, and then worked as an orchestral musician. He founded the Doulce Mémoire group in Paris with a view to creating an ensemble diverse enough in instrumentation and flexible enough in performing skills to recreate a panoramic view of the kinds of music-making that took place in courts of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The recordings of Doulce Mémoire have received unanimous priase from both the French and international musical press, not to mention a considerable number of awards, notably Diapason d'Or, Choc de la musique, ffff de Télérama, Milia d'Or in Cannes, and 10 de Répertoire.
