Background: Fascinated by voices and instruments at Renaissance’s time, Denis Raisin Dadre studied the music commissioned by Earl Alfonso II of Ferrare at the end of XVIe and especially the music sung privately every evening by his ladies. As performances of Allegri’s Misere were the Pope’s exclusive privilege, the Earl of Ferrare prohibited any edition of madrigals played at his house being published.
