Background: It would be simplistic to define the work of Terry Riley and Stefano Scodanibbio as merely duets for double bass and keyboards. Each of them coaxes such a complex range of timbres and textures from their instruments that it's hard to believe such a variety of sounds is created by only two men. Both are equally comfortable with improvisation and classical notated music; both enjoy the exploration of tuning systems, harmonics and the world of overtones; both use them to create new sounds.
