Background: Charles Wesley wrote over 9000 sacred poems and hymns, many of which still survive in hymn books used today. They are a unique blend of ‘head and heart’ and are filled with passion. This is why his hymns have been translated into scores of languages and are still sung in Europe, Asia, Russian Siberia and North and South America. Baritone Stephen Kimbrough is one of the world’s foremost authorities on Charles Wesley. In 1985 he wrote and starred in his one man show based on the life of Wesley which he premiered at New York’s Carnegie Hall. |
