Background: Richard Dunser transcribes Brahms's highly complex folksong arrangements into another medium, namely an ensemble of soprano, five wind instruments, five stringed instruments and a guitar. This entails a constant change of idioms in order to realize the change from piano to strings, wind and guitar - from the solo effects of these tonal colours to the sound of a chamber orchestra. Along with two original works by Dunser, this CD also offers his congenial arrangement of four Debussy piano preludes for flute, clarinet and guitar.
