Background: Irene Eisinger (soprano) sang at the major opera houses and festivals including Berlin, Vienna, London, Salzburg and Glyndebourne. In the early 1930's she also appeared in German motion pictures. She possessed a brilliantly managed coloratura voice and found her best roles in soubrette parts. Hermann Schey (baritone) appeared as a concert and oratorio singer in Berlin, where he was particularly admired for this interpretations of Bach. Margarethe Siems (soprano) sang in the world premieres of Elektra (1909), Der Rosenkavalier (1911), and of Ariadne auf Naxos (1912), where she sang the taxing role of Zerbinetta, which Richard Strauss had composed with her voice in mind. |
