Background: Xiaotang Tan lives in Peking and had his first piano lessons at the age of five.

He performs regularly with China's leading symphony orchestras and has appeared as a soloist in Japan, Australia and Europe. As well as performing works by Chopin, Tan performs works by two Chinese composers, who both have strong links with Messiaen.
