Background: Hugo Wolf’s output is essentially vocal. During his short life, he died aged 42, he composed hundreds of lieder that were to place his reputation and achievements alongside his illustrious forbears; Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. Soprano Marret Winger studied with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau so her understanding and performances of these songs are understandably assured and beautifully sung.
