Background: The early Edison Cylinders had a restricting playing time of two minutes and necessitated drastic cuts at the time of recording. Edison decided to increase the playing time to four minutes by cutting a finer groove. The first Grand Opera Amberols cylinders were released in December 1909 and were far better recorded than anything else on the market.
