Background: Buonamente began his career at Mantua and due to the strong connections between Mantua and Vienna by 1626 he was a musicista da camera to Ferdinand II Haugsburg. At some point he joined the Francescan order and around 1630 he left Ferdinand's service and returned south, to work at Assisi as maestro di cappella. Like his contemporaries Biagio Marini and Francesco Turrini, Buonamente was active both in italian and German speaking areas. |
