Background: Violinist Midori made her debut 20 years ago as a precocious 11-year-old with the New York Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta. She has since gone on to fascinate and captivate audiences with her mature artistry and incredible technique. She is quite simply phenomenal. She is a recent recipient of the Avery Fisher Prize and the 'Instrumentalist of the Year' award from Musical America. She has also worked with the most prestigious symphonic ensembles as well as a catalogue of top-calibre artists like Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Leonard Bernstein, Sir Simon Rattle and Christoph Eschenbach to name but a few. |

- Jan-2004 Gramophone Editor's Choice 'Recordings of this coupling are legion but Midori and Jansons have a real winner here.' - Penguin Guide 3 star 'it is a tribute to Midori that she can tackle this traditional, much-duplicated coupling with such individuality, particularly when in live recordings her inspired partners are the Berlin Philharmonic under Mariss Jansons' |
