Background: On the 24th of November 1956 Guido Cantelli died in an aeroplane crash, thus ending the all-too-brief career of a musician whom many believed was destined to become the most commanding conductor of the second half of the twentieth century. The recondings on this 4CD set were made at the NBC Broadcast Concerts in 1951.
