Background: In post-liberation Paris, Roger Désormière embodied the renaissance of the French capital's musical life. He was an omnipresent figure, attentive to everything and everybody. He alternated with Manuel Rosenthal as conductor of the Orchestre National's programme of broadcast concerts, where he included a number of first performances. The recordings are marked by comparable qualities of freshness, grace and poetry. |
