Background: This 1962 recording of Ballo in Maschera is extremely rare. It had been intended for broadcast by the BBC, but the failure of contract negotiations prevented this. Fortunately Lord Harewood, closely connected with the Company, was able to make a private recording which has preserved this excellent performance.
