Background: Louis Marchand is today remembered as one of the most famous and skilled organists from the beginning of the 18th century when his fame spread throughout Europe. His published harpsichord compositions consist of two books published in 1699 and 1703 and apart from a few organ pieces no other works survive. These works for the harpsichord, along with those by other composers, were collected together in the 1750s by a Monsieur Renard. |
