Background: Fats Waller was a highly influential pianist and composer of many jazz classics, his music enjoying a winning combination of good knockabout humor, foot-tapping rhythm and fantastic piano playing. In the 1920's he played in many Manhattan theatres and clubs and in the 1930's he toured and recorded with his own small band combining his outstanding musical skills with slapstick comedy.
