Background: These WDR recordings of the Mozart Concertos K491 and K595 by Robert Casadesus are live and accompanied by the great conductor George Szell dating from 1960 and 1958 respectively. Both were recorded commercially by Sony in the studio in 1961 and 1962 but as Bryce Morrison in his note points out, 'But here, without the chilling need for re-takes and corrections, his playing is of truly miraculous poise and refinement.' Weber's Konzertstuck also comes live from WDR and is a very rare and brilliantly played addition to the Casadesus discography, conducted by Romanus Hubertus. These recordings have never been released before and have been taken from the original WDR master tapes. |
