Background: The music of Mel Bonis (1858-1937) the most important woman composer of the French Belle Époque, has long been neglected. Camille Saint-Saëns exclaimed in wonder of her first Piano of Quartet of 1901, 'I never would have believed that a woman could write something like this!' In honour of the 150th anniversary of her birth the Mozart Piano Qt present this recording of her two Piano Quartets. As always the Qt play with enthusiasm and winning expertise.
