Background: Sir Anthony Van Dyck (1599-1641) painted kings & queens, princes & courtiers and he himself is said to have lived like a prince rather than a painter. He shared this lifestyle with his mentor and teacher Peter Paul Rubens who used to refer to Van Dyck as 'the best of his assistants'. The works on this disc reflect his travels around Europe.
