Background: The 'Four Islands of the Dead' are based on four songs by Johannes Brahms. Johannes Kalitzke (born 1959) uses the idea of a musical veil to hide the original songs and to cover the musical ideas with a contemporary interpretation. 'Six Covered Settings' are musical interpretations of the setting sun. As always with Kairos CDs there are excellent notes including an interview with the composer.
