Background: The premature death of King Sebastião in 1578 places Portugal under Spanish rule. This provoked the exodus of a number of Portuguese composers who subsequently remained in the service of the great Spanish Cathedrals, leaving us a vast and splendid output.

On this recording A Corte Musical reveals the music of these emigrants, these 'flowers' born in Lisbon who were once the pride of the Portuguese people but are today sadly forgotten.
