Background: Debut album by the winner of World Music Network's 'Battle of the Bands' competition. Hailing from Senegal, Amadou Diagne is a griot, who played percussion with the country's esteemed National Band for many years. His exquisite song writing is delivered with a distinctive voice, accompanied by his bluesy acoustic guitar, traditional drumming and the occasional glittering kora.
Amadou Diagne's beautifully expressive voice is accompanied by flowing guitar playing and sublime percussion, a brilliant performer his stage presence has charmed audiences at many folk and world music festivals. He was born into a large griot family in Senegal and has been playing music since the age of 4. A former percussionist with the Senegalese National Band, Amadou's rhythmic approach to music shines through on each track of this album, which was inspired by Amadou's strong family values and his deep connection to his Senegalese homeland. |
