Background: Only a fraction of Bach's orchestral output has reached posterity. There has been much conjecture as to the reasons for the above-average rate of loss in this particular field, but the only certainty is that by Bach's death the veil of oblivion had already begun to descend on his orchestral works.

On the present CD two reconstructions (BWV1052 and 1060) are pitted against two versions of works that have Bach's own authority (BWV1057 and 1062).
