Background: As well as being a supremely gifted composer Ignaz Joseph Pleyel (1757-1831) was also the owner of a piano making company. So it is fitting that the pieces presented on this release should be played on one of the composers own instruments dating from 1831. In the capable and musical hands of pianist Masha Dimitrieva, these exquisite pieces are a delight to the ear.
