Background: Pearl's award-winning previous issues of great Russian voices have not included Kozlovsky, quite deliberately, so that a complete CD can be devoted to his art. He was the finest tenor to be recorded in Russia during the Stalinist period and these examples, largely from the late 1940s and early '50s, are treasures that deserve much wider appreciation by lovers of supreme tenor singing.
