Background: Most have heard of the title piece, even if only by the name 'Anniversary Song' from Al Johnson's film produced in America in 1946, but do not know that the talented and much neglected composer Josef Ivanovici - the Romanian Johann Strauss - wrote some 350 other works, mostly dance pieces and marches.

This CD is the result of a joint project between the Johann Strauss Societies of Great Britain and Romania to bring to the attention of the public some of his other compositions, none of them ever recorded before. The pieces selected are those that were available, as much material has been lost. The shorter pieces were orchestrated by the British maestro John Georgiadis in order to provide a balanced programme.
