Background: The Sounds on this CD come from two American Forces Radio Service, One Night Stand transcriptions numbers 218 from The Terrace Room. Newark NJ. April 22nd 1944 and 411 From The Casino Gardens, Ocean Park CA. October 21st 1944, Made for broadcast to American troops abroad in various theatres of war during WWII and as such feature the Tommy Dorsey band at its best, with a powerful line-up of top musicians, a number of whom would later go on to form their own bands, notably Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Pete Candoli, Nelson Riddle and Dodo Marmarosa. The vocals are performed by Bob Allen, Bonnie Lou Williams and The Sentimentalists. |
