Background: 'The Great Depression' is the latest album from Irish-French producer extraordinaire Doctor L, featuring special guests Asa and Tony Allen amongst others. It's a unique fusion of hip-hop, Afrobeat, electronica, soul and jazz.
Doctor L aka Liam Farrell, was born in Dublin in 1968 and he grew up between France (where his family had emigrated) and Ireland. He is known as an important artist on the French hip hop scene (Assasin, Kabal), a member of the now classic 'French Touch' movement (Source lab 1 & 2 compilations with Air, Daft Punk etc), a talented producer (Lenine, Tony Allen, Screamin Jay Hawkins etc.) and a sought-after remixer (Neneh Cherry, Salif Keita, Gangstarr, Ice-T, David Murray, Pharoah Sanders). |
