Background: The CD is the result of many years of research by by violinist Joanna Kurkowicz, who refers to the music, quite simply, as 'amazing'. Kurkowicz hopes that this recording will expand awareness of Grazyna Bacewicz’s importance as a major composer of the twentieth century.

Bacewicz is little known outside her native Poland and here she is presented with passionate and persistent advocacy.

Polish born violinist Joanna Kurkowicz is leader of the Boston Philharmonic and the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, and Artist-in- Residence at the prestigious Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She is joined on this disc by distinguished Taiwanese pianist Gloria Chien.
