Background: Mark-Anthony Turnage is a composer of international stature, he is indisputably among the most significant creative figures to have emerged in British music in the last two decades. Evelyn Glennie is that rare thing, a world-renowned percussion soloist. Though deaf, she has performed with many of the world’s greatest orchestras.

Peter Erskine gained fame as Stan Kenton’s and Maynard Ferguson’s drummer. He played in the jazz fusion groups Weather Report and Steps Ahead before becoming a jazz soloist in his own right.

The great trombonist Christian Lindberg is an acclaimed recording and concert artist.
