Background: The Passion Cantata was well received and thanks to its popularity it was published in 1775 as a full score by Breitkopf. The contemporary text describes the Passion from a very personal point of view - rather in contemplation of the events of Christ's Passion rather than presenting the events themselves. This very expressive and melodic music can be rediscovered here on a world premiere recording in excellent interpretations.
