Background: The rediscovery of Salvatore Sacco has opened up new roads in the exploration of the history of Italian polyphony. We currently have only a single printed collection of sacred music by Sacco. This recording presents the majority of these works within the framework of a liturgical reconstruction for an important Marian feast.

Sacco's style is simple and elegant; his writing respects the text in its relation to the content of the liturgy and enables us to place him in history as a skilled composer of considerable merit.
