Background: Inspired by The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch, these songs from the late Middle Ages and the early Renaissance are a stroll through a real or imaginary garden, evoking the painter's enchanted world. The angelic songs of Guillaume Dufay and Josquin Desprez as well as more trivial pieces from the Bayeux Manuscript, are presented in a natural setting provided by early instruments and in the diversity of colour provided by the voices, chorus and soloists.
