We are securely in the world of the mideighteenth- century classical concerto, and the effort is neither a slavish copy of the typical concerto Beethoven would have heard in Bonn, nor is it anything world-changing. It is though, a diverting piece, bristling with all sorts of invention and many beautiful, tender moments that are quite remarkable in such a youthful enterprise.
