Background: John Ogdon studied at the Royal Manchester College of Music. He made his London debut at the Henry Wood Proms in 1958 playing Busoni's Piano Concerto, which created a sensation. John Ogdon's performances of Beethoven were quite rare and therefore this recording of the 'Emperor' is exceptional. He never recorded the work and is partnered here by Jascha Horenstein conducting the BBC Norther Symphony Orchestra on a very successful 1969 German tour. CATALOGUE NR: BBCL41422 |
