Background: Spanish composer Diego Ortiz worked 1555 to 1570 at the court of the Duke of Alba in Naples. In 1565, he had a collection of sacred music published under the title Musices liber primus-Hymnos, Magnificat, Salves, Motecta, Psalmos aliaque diersa cantica complectens, from which the polyphonic pieces contained in this disc are extracted.
