Background: Nellie Melba was Australia's first international superstar, her voice and charisma captivating audiences. Her glorious, youthful soprano, as heard in its prime, can now be enjoyed on CD following painstaking and extensive research.

These are the earliest surviving recordings approved by Melba herself, mostly made in her own London drawing room in 1904 and taken from the original metal plates, providing pristine clarity.
