Background: The most important German Violinist of his day, Pisendel was a pupil of Vivaldi, friend to Bach and Telemann, and later teacher to Quantz, Graun and Court of Friedrich the Great - so right in the centre of an energetic musical culture. While he left fewer compositions than Bach, his Violin Sonata in A minor is in design, complexity and inspiration, absolutely its equal. Indeed, as a virtuoso, Pisendel was also able to extend the technical punch of the works beyond that of Bach. CATALOGUE NR: 9999822 |
