Background: Saint-Saens is unique in that his lifetime spanned the best part of a century and so his works show a huge variety. This disc includes his major works for violin and piano including the two violin sonatas and Triptyque which is effectively his third sonata but avoiding the genre's tag. Composed between 1885 and 1920, the works demonstrate Saint-Saens more mature style. Well-known Swedish artists Ulf Wallin and Roland Pontinen deliver fantastic performances of this recital.
