Background: Lodovico Giustini da Pistoia wrote the very first published work in the history of music especially composed for the fortepiano, in an agreeable style between Baroque and Pre-Classical. Works before that time were playable both on harpsichord and fortepiano. The instrument on this recording is the precious copy built by Kerstin Schwarz after the original Cristofori’s piano of Leipzig 1726. Andrea Coen is a Italian scholar and musician, who also wrote the most informative linernotes. |
