Background: This disc is devoted solely to the works of Georg Bohm, one of the leading German organists of his day. In his free compositions Bohm follows North German forms, alternating fantasias with conservative fugal writing and dance movements.

He was notably resourceful in the art of variation, and his genius is best seen in the choral partitas: a form invented by Bohm, this is a fusion of the seventeenth-century secular Partita and the sacred Chorale Variation.
