Background: Acclaimed German Cellist Jan Vogler has focused on the origins of Dvorák's famous concerto and incorporated the other works that inspired him to write this piece. Two versions of Dvorak's song 'Lasst mich allein' (Leave Me Alone) frame the concerto on this recording - one voca and the other transcribed for cello.

The disc also includes two songs by Stephen Foster and Dvorak's Gypsy Songs, with the cello playing vocal lines.
