Artist(s):
Nikolaj Znaider

Zubin Mehta

Background: Wherever violinist Nikolaj Znaider performs, he makes news. A critic's darling, reviewers worldwide agree that he is one of the leading musicians among the new generation of violinists. As the Chicago Tribune wrote, when onstage Znaider 'absorbs the music so fully into his being as to become the music.'

Born to Polish-Israeli parents in Denmark in 1975, Nikolaj Znaider began his formal musical training with Milan Vitek at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and in 1992 was awarded the First Prize at the Carl Nielsen International Violin Competition. He went on to study at the Julliard School with the late Dorothy DeLay before travelling to Vienna in 1994 to study with his musical mentor, the Russian pedagogue, Boris Kuschnir.
