Background: Sebastian Weigle is from Berlin and is one of Germany's most sought after conductors. The Munchner Rundfunkorchester was founded in 1952 and in addition to extensive concerts in Munich, has appeared throughout Germany Austria and Switzerland under a wide range of conductors.

Hans Rott was Anton Bruckner's favourite student and a contemporary (and friend) of Mahler. The Symphony was composed in 1878, when Rott was just 20 years of age. Tragically he died at the age of twenty-six. Had he lived, he would surely have been one of the great composers of the late 19th Century.
