Background: Ernest Fanelli was born in Paris on 29-Jun-1860, the son of a bank clerk, whose family had emigrated to France from Bologna. Fanelli, in fact, was self-taught, studying scores that he could borrow from libraries. By his early twenties, he had already started composing.
