Background: Almost entirely self-taught, Albert Sammons is regarded as one of the finest British violinists to have made records. This programme presents Elgar's Violin Sonata, with his regular partner William Murdoch as well as Mozart’s Sinfonia concertante, in collaboration with another of his closest associates, the great violist Lionel Tertis.

This performance has always been valued for the superb interplay between Sammons and Tertis and the stylish accompaniment under Hamilton Harty.
