Background: Composer John Adams' 2003 Pulitzer Prize-winning On the Transmigration of Souls is a 25-minute piece for orchestra, chorus, children's choir and pre-recorded soundtrack. It was commissioned in honour of the heroes and in memory of the victims of the attacks of 11th September 2001. It was recorded in concert at Avery Fisher from 19th-24th September 2002, with conductor Lorin Maazel. |
